Being in an elementary school has
taught me much that I didn’t know. I have really learned a lot about teachers changing
their original lesson from something that they may have seen from the children.
The amount of politics involved in teaching is higher than ever as I was told.
Than brings me to the fact that the educator’s theses data have to follow all
these standards and gather as much data as possible. This data helps with determine
what’s working or not.
Throughout
the year I am allowed to help and take data as if I were in my student teacher
stages, this is helpful as I am getting valuable experience that will be used.
May people get out of school and think it’s all fun, but it’s very difficult
inside the classroom. The data that was
gathered was seeing how kids progressed to a lesson one way, than when they
learned it with actual people. It was a math exercise as we collected data it
showed that the more active and hands- on the lesson was the kids understood
better. On the other hand when we used standard counters the understanding was
less noticeable.
I think we could have essentially took more data from more
students, and seen a more variable impact of higher numbers. It also would have
helped to question the students after the lesson. Seeing their different responses
of the material learned. I think a small instructional game, app, or test on
the computer or the iPad would have gave a more distinctive results. It would
have also introduced technology to the kids and seen how they adapted to it.
